Hi everyone i been taking lexapro for almost 6 years. I was taking 20 mgs but now that i told my doctor that it wasn't working as well he want's me to doble my dose and take 40 mgs which i think its too much. How Much are you guys taking? what is the highest dose you have ever taken?

If after 6 years its stopped working then I would definetly go up in dosage or change medications all together. I have been on Lexapro for about a yr now. Initially started on 20mg and up to 40mg 6 mo later. I have been doing well. Of course everyone is different so all you can do is give it a shot.

I'm on Lexapro, 10 mg. I was on 20, which was my highest dose. I have been on Lexapro almost 4 years.

I have never posted before....new to the program. I have been on Lexapro 40 for well over a year and I know it helps tremendously. However, I think I need something additional as I still feel like I am drowning. I have been depressed since 1995 (probably really forever) and have tried most medications. Lexapro is as good as any and side effects are minimal. good luck.

i am taking lexapro for 4 months already and ti really helps a lot now i feel much better than febore i tried natural remedies but nothing worked' good luck to everybody

It worked well for me also for about 2 years. Then I had "burn out". Went to Prystiq, 20 mg for a year then to 40 mg(Had other issues arise which knocked me down again.) Now added 300 mg of generic wellbutrin this week. Hoping it works. So, keep pluggin. Many many options out there!

I have been on Lexapro for 6 years with varying dosages. Highest does was 40 mgs, and i felt like a zombie. Is your doc willing to increas in 5 mg. increments? I am now taking 10mg., and weaning myself down to 5 mg. Ask your doc and good luck! First time posting, and I am waiting for the program to arrive!

I have been taking Lexapro for about 6 yrs now. Started on 10mg then went up to 15. Started a nutrition program that was designed to help get off your meds and take organic supplements to replace what the meds did. WRONG ANSWER! I weined myself down to 5mg and now I am suffering. I had thought that 20mg was a very high dosage of lexapro to go to but now I see many others have been on 40.
