So I went to see my psychiatrist today. I was totally shocked from her brief discussion with me. She basically told me that she doesn't think i'll ever get better. I went out of there with a huge resentment. Not only by that, but by the fact that i've been paying quadrouple of what I was supposed to, and I just found out by my insurance company today. I am going to look for another doctor tommorrow. One a little more understanding and not a "b word." How can a doctor say something like that to a patient?

Sorry to hear about your negative experience. There are good doctors and bad doctors and it sounds like this one is a bad one. You might want to contact the state medical board and put in a complaint or register a complaint on Angies's List. Good luck and hang in there!

I don't know. I think she is just fed up because I have been on lots of different medications, and they all have horrible side effects. That still doesn't seem like a valid reason to me, but what do I know. I'm going for a second oppinion tommorrow. There's got to be something that doesn't make me want to sleep all day, and make me manic or shake all over.

What kind of meds have you tried? Have you had a complete physical with your primary doctor? I would def. find a different psychiatrist to go to. seems like this one could care less about her patients. I know that side effects can be more scary and horrible than the anxiety itself. Keep your chin up and let us know what you find out.

so sorry brandon...i thk alot of shrinks get into the business to make the bucks and because they have problems they want to take the classes for ..... i have seen couple shrinks having meltdowns of sorts after work hours, one with their young kid at a bookstore just normal stuff he could hardly handle...hmmm, another who called me to tell me his gf dumped him...oh brother. well, i know we think they have 'answers' and sometimes they can share helpful thgs with us to help ourselves. i do hope you can find the help you need, meds whatever...and also will say a prayer you are guided to your best helpful healing sources. don't forget this Stress program tho...it IS VERY helpful to alot of us (not all)...however, it is alot of self homework..but soooo worth it.best to you

Brandon -

Finding a good doctor, especially in the mental health field, is like finding a four leaf clover; you don't come across them very often. It sounds like you had the unfortunate experience of finding damaged goods. Don't let the experience get you down. There are good doctors out there, you just have to hunt for them. Try getting recommendation from hospitals or better yet people you know in your area.

Good luck,
Jamie
