I am switching from Lexapro to Cymbalta - on my 6th day of Cymbalta 30 mg. I am having horrible problems - weaning off of Lexapro and onto Cymbalta. Yesterday I felt pretty good all day for the first time since I switched. Today was terrible - shakes, tremors, terrible thoughts, panicky, chest discomfort, etc. Should I stick with it and for how long do I put up with this feeling until trying something else. I'm so desperate - I can't stand it!

Thanks for any help you can give me. I'm suffering, my kids, my husband - even my puppy. I hate this so much!

terbear,
It takes several weeks for the antidepressants like Cymbalta to "kick in". If you can stick it out, it may help. If it gets too bad you might ask your MD about Remeron. It works quick, like in 5 days and makes a big difference, only problem your appetite goes through the roof. I was on it for a while, but could not stop eating. I was literally starved. Other than that I really did feel better. But I would not go on Remeron again unless last resort d/t the eating leads to its own problems and depression. I don't know if any of this helps, but I will pray for you. SylviaR

terbear,
I don't know, it sounds like your side effects might be a bit severe. Call your MD and ask if maybe he should switch your meds.

Did you just switch right over without reducing the Lexapro first? This could be what you are feeling, perhaps some withdrawal from the Lexapro. You should feel better in a few weeks.
