I was taking celexa for 9 months while i did the program. 2 months after i completed the program I was feeling great. i still had some anxiety and panic while on the antidepressant but I was coping with it much better. I decided that it was time to get off the medicine and see how I feel and how my coping skills help. the doctor tapered my dosage and I havent been taking celexa for 5 days. I started getting dizzy spells a couple of days ago. Today I felt like I couldnt even walk because I might fall from being so dizzy like someone had spun me around a hundred times. Right now everytime I get up and walk to another room it feelss like my eyes are going haywire. they are crossing and rolling. Its throwing off my balance. Has anyone felt this way after getting off celexa or another antidepressant. This is the most scary feeling i have ever had. I want to try and ride this out but i dont know if I can take it if it lasts too much longer.

how did your MD have you taper off? It is impossible to go off an Rx anti-depressant in 5 days. You should be given a lower dosage & take that lower dosage for a week or two (depending on how long you've been on the Rx). Then another week or two at half that dosage. You should be checking in w/your MD every week. You need rest, time to "chill out" & may need to go on a medication that helps you with the vertigo symptoms. People are so afraid of meds. There is nothing wrong with taking an Rx that helps you. Programs/therapy can be wonderful assists to Rxs but remember, many brain disorders like panic/anxiety, bipolar & etc. are Physical. Diabetics must take insulin. They can help their health with good diet, exercise, weight loss. But they have to take insulin. Nobody would tell a diabetic to taper off insulin. So really be sure that you do not need the anti-depressant. Your body/mind can tell you much more than an on-line counselor!

I havent been on that med but some meds like Paxil take a little longer to taper off. It took me 4 months to taper very slowly from paxil. Its called ssri discontinuation syndrome.

I was on lorazapam for a year but I tapered off slowly too. Like 3 weeks then just took half of that pill for another 3 weeks and then a fourth for about a week. I was taking 3 pills a day. But you have to taper off slowly so you don't get such withdrawls.
I would go to the doctor so he could check your ears maybe you have an ear infection and it is giving you vertigo and you are thinking it is because of the meds.
Good luck and I am proud of you. You made it 5 days if you have to take some more for awhile at least you know you were off of it for 5 days.
I am on day 4 the 2nd day was the worst for me.
Good luck

In my opinion the slower you taper off the better.

when i stopped cymbalta- i tapered down and felt absolutely no withdrawals until i had been off of it for four days then they hit. i actually felt better than i had in a while during those first four days adn i thought i was home free. a horrible dizziness hit at three weeks. i tried to last off of it but after i stayed dizzy for a couple weeks the anxiety started coming back about the dizziness so i had to go back on.

I wonder is some of the dizziness that is felt during withdrawal is actually vertigo since it seems to hit people a few days/weeks after discontinuation?? Could the SSRI's be causing an increase of fluid in the ears??

Hi all,
I have been on anti-depression pills for last 2 years and I got into that as my job is very stressing and needs a lot. Now I fell that these medications are affecting me. Studies have shown that male with depression are more prone to ED disorder. I am 39 and think that I am suffering with this disorder and it is affecting my life. The whole day I feel stressed about my health and my sex life and this is affecting my married life as I think that I am not able to give her the best. This has further depressed me a lot.
<A HREF="

Should I have this medicine to get over my disorder or should I try some herbal medication. Should I continue to have my anti-depression pills? Is there anyone who has faced such problem and can share his experience with me? I will be grateful if anyone can shed some light on this and can suggest me what can I do.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
