I couldn't find anything exact or recent on this subject and hope someone has some info for me. I'm having a great experience with valerian for sleeping problems and would like to add st johns wort for anxiety/depression. I used to take Lexapro and Klonopin and feel like I need a little lift to keep up my recovery. Please let me know about your experience on it, good, bad, or indifferent. Also, what is this business about sunlight sensitivity while taking it? How much sun can you get, do you burn easier, what? ?? I quit the Lexapro because of weight gain and the drinking restrictions, are they the same for St. Johns wort? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I absolutely loved St. Johns wort. ! I started taking it in September and took it through the winter months. I recently stopped only b/c of the fact that I spend a lot of time in the sun with my kids in the spring and summer. Don't get me wrong, you just have to limit your exposure b/c you can burn more easily. Also, your eyes could be sensitive to the bright sunlight too. Other than that, I swear I felt great, the same way I did when I was on Paxil (10mg) except NO weight gain or side effects!! I took Perika by I think Nature's Way and most times I took only two a day. the prescribed dose is 3 a day. Don't forget, it still takes 4 wks or so to take effect. Good Luck.

Also know that your looking for something to bring you up........reconsider the "drinking restrictions" basically the drinking they are downers and drinking does bring people DOWN.....

I took it years ago and it worked really well but when I couldn't find the brand I was taking anymore and switched brands I couldn't find one that worked as well. They all seemed to be different in how well they worked. Consumer Labs run tests on vitamins and supplements to check for the correct amount of advertised ingredients and found that 50% didn't have in them what they advertised. They have a web site that you can check for their lists of recommended supplements that they've tested.
