Good morning,
Anyone who is on/was on either of these drugs and experienced weight gain or loss?
I am trying to figure out if my Effexor is making me fat, or it is just me

lol you are funny. I once took Effexor and it made me lose weight fast. I was never hungry and hardley ate over a period of 2 weeks. Too bad it made me completely crazy or else i'd still be on it..lol good luck

I am on zoloft and klonopin and I have gained about 25 pounds in a year. I am trying to figure out the same thing if it is making me fat or if it is just me. I joined curves a month ago and weighed in mon and I have GAINED 2 pounds. I am going crazy but I can't be without this medicine. Before I was taking it I got to the point where I wouldn't leave my house and was having panic attacks daily. Now I work full time and I feel like I have got my life back. So I don't know I asked my dr and he said that it usually balances itself out after the first year. How much have you gained? I'm right there with you.

Theresa,
I believe the side effect of effexor is weight gain or loss. I am on effexor as well and the thing I noticed is that I actually am hungry more often. I am about to ask my GP about this so I will let you know. It could be that being less anxious gives us a more settled nervous system and with less anxiety, there is more balanced eating cycle.

Thanks, Zoe and Jen. I think my weight gain is mostly from the stress hormone that - especially with women - gives us belly fat. My coworder is on Cymbalta, and she definitely thinks it has given her more belly fat. But, since I have been short on money, I quite going to the YMCA months ago - bad move, I know. I will really try to get back to the gym. Thanks for your support!

I am on the Effexor XR and it makes me loose weight. One of the side effects to Effexor is that it can make you loose weight and also it can make you anorexic. These side effects are right out of the book "The Pill Book", this is a good resorce to have if you are taking medications and are woundering the side effects of them.
