My mother was taking it during the summer. She didn't have any success with it. I think my going cold turkey worked better than her taking the chantix. But then again, it could work differently for other people.

hey Kristen,
I just went to the doctors yesterday regarding this same precript. She told me that it has a 50% rate of success, which the patch and other over the counter stuff has only 10-25% of working. She also says that I could experience haulicinations. But that was on the was extreme side effects. I have 2 friends that swear by it. They say that it makes them a little nausious to be around smoke. But they are done with smoking. I think anything will work if you want it bad enought. I was able to quite for both of my pregnancies and stay of for a few years, but I laxed and back to smoking I am. So I talked with my doctor (by the way my insurance won't cover smoking sessations) so the next best thing was Wellbutrin, I was on it for anxiety a couple of years ago, but she also said it helps with quiting smoking, so that will be my drug of choice for this year. And my insurance will cover most of it.
Hope this helps you, and good luck! As I am in the same boat, I wonder if I am trying to do to much at one time, quit smoking start anxiety tapes, starting new business, still trying to keep up with the old life. Sorry I was just rambling on there. But anyhow hope this helps!

Three of my co-workers used the Chantix and successfully quit. They swear by it! They have convinced other family members to try it and it also worked for them. They are about a year smoke-free now. One of them had to be sure to eat before taking it or it upset their stomach but other than that they were fine. They really want me to try it - but of course I have a fear of side effects. I am trying to get my courage up to do it soon! Might as well try it - what have we got to lose!

Because of Chantix I have been smoke free for 13 months. They also have a very good support program. I have recommended several people to try this. Worked for me...

Hey Kristen,
I have two friends that WERE heavy smokers they both smoked about 2 packs a day. They are both NON smokers!! The only side affect that they both said they had was vivid dreams. One has not been smoking for 9 months and the other is 7 months. It really works, they both have tried so many times to stop but always went right back after a few weeks. They both say they are NON SMOKERS now.
Good luck to you,
Debbie
