Hi Everyone,
I just started the program a couple of weeks ago and I am now going to start with a personal coach next week. By the way she seems awesome. My only question is I feel like I am in the minority in here because I am not on meds. I only take Ativan .5 mg and cut it in half if I am in really bad shape, but is not an everyday thing because I don't like the way it makes me feel. I am afraid that if I don't take any meds for this it will not get any better and I won't be able to win this battle. I am in really bad shape with this problem (anxiety and panic) that I bearly leave the house. I am just concerned this is not beatable without meds. I am on lesson 2 and I have found it makes so much sense to me what it says. Just wondering if anyone else is like me with no meds and how you are making out.
Thanks for any input or experiences it would really help me out, because it is something that really worries me.
Thanks again,

Mimigirl

I only take .25mg of Xanax when I absolutely have to. It is not a daily thing for me either. This program will teach you that you can recover without meds. We've all been in really bad shape, but we can all get through it. You will find an excellent support system on this board and through the program. You need to have faith in yourself. You are the only one who can make you feel better. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. You CAN do this!

Hi,
I am not on any medications. I don't even have any to take when I am having anxiety and panic. I tried taking xanex a month ago and it made me worse. I also tried three days of paxel and it made me worse. After that I decided I am through with meds. and will not take another one. I can't take medicaiton as it is because my body does not react well to it. Just remeber meds. are only temporary anyway so if you can fight this without them then you will be a lot better off then having to come off of them with the chance of rebounding. You can do this without them I talked to my doctor about anxiety and depression medication and he said that he would prefer me not try them because they are not good. You can do it trust me with the program and support you will get through it without altering your mind or body with meds.

Hi there! I am not on any antianxiety or antidepresants, nor have I ever have been. I got better solely because of this program. If you work at it like suggested, you will feel better :) It isn't a miracle cure...you do have to work at it...you may still get bad days (we all do), but it will give you coping tools and ways to feel better and keep the anxiety at bay. Best of luck to you :)

:) Hi Mimi. Welcome! I just want to say that the program works wonderfully with or without meds, so don't worry. If you choose to go off meds, then make sure you talk to your doctor first, and if you stay on meds, that's OK too. It doesn't make people stronger or weaker for being on meds, it's an individual thing and everyone is different. Some people just don't like to take meds, so this program works for them anyhow. I'm on Effexor, and if I feel really anxious I take a 1/2 tablet of Clonazopam. It works well for me, along with the program. As long as people whom take meds, also get professional help and /or this program then they will work through their obstacles. Meds alone just masks the problems, but therapy (whichever kind), plus meds, works well. :D Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hugs and Peace!

hi mimigirl, I too overcame this disorder without any medication. This program was my medication, I listen to it and applied it to my situation whenever I had panic attacks. Also, PLEASE give this a try. Try Dannon's Dan-Active, buy a couple of packs from your grocery store and try it out for a week or 2. It's only $3/per pack. It helps out your immune system. Your body takes a beating because of anxiety and stress and your body is worn out after going through so much. This stuff helps out your body's immune system and give it a good boost. I'd tried it and I TRULY feel that it helps out so much and I recommended it to a friend and she tried it and felt that it has also help her out. The anxiety attacks wasn't so bad anymore for her. I recommend drinking 2 bottles every morning and 1 at lunch time especially when the attacks are bad. Please try it out, what have you got to lose?

Thank you for all your wonderful opinions it has really helped me not feel so alone in my choice to not take meds. I to think it is a totally personal choice whether to take meds or not and I respect everyones personal choice. But for me this is the way I would like to proceed with the program. Thank you for all your support and input it has helped me more than you know. I will also try the Dannon as well. Do any of you take the vitamins that come with the program ??
Thank you again for your input.

I didn't order the vitamins, but I feel that those vitamins like B12, B6, etc. will only help your body deal with the stress. Thank you for willing to give the Dan-Active a try, I do hope that it will help you out as it help me and my friend.
