Hey everyone! Four years ago I started taking lexapro. I took ten mg. and it seemed to control my outbursts of crying and made me less gittery(sp?). After a while I went from crying at the drop of a hat to not being able to cry until the last straw. I also had trouble concentrating on things that I enjoyed doing.I tried taking welbutrin and a generic of ritaline(sp?). I went off when I lost insurance coverage.

Now I am on a generic of Welbutrin 10mg. and it is working great. But I am worried that eventually it will stop working again and I also want to be able to be happy without having to swallow a pill every morning. Any advice on medication to ease my mind,
Katie

Katie- I think you have to work on your coping skills while you are on your meds. Then, when you decide to get off of them, you have yourself to help you through your feelings. Remember, you are the one who decides what you put inside your body, not the medicine. It doesn't have to stop working for you to stop taking it; work on your skills...the rest will come. Believe me, I am in the process of trying to get off of a medication and I am working the program, going to accupuncture, using relaxation and breathing techniques and trying (not always easy)to keep a positive attitude. I believe in the end, everything will work out.

Hi Stevecat. As Chitown has stated, when you get off the meds you are going to have yourself to help you through hard times. It's true, unless you have depression and then you probably need to take medication.

You can get through anxiety without meds, I did and i'm doing great now.Don't think that you have to be on medication for the rest of your life, because it would not be healthy for you to do that anyway. Another thing, meds only work for so long anyway, then you have to go to another one, and so on, and so on. Who wants to live like that.

This is a wonderful program, you will be very happy with it. Give it a chance.

Take care, DeeDee.

Hey! Thank you for your replies. I don't get a lot of internet time so sorry it's taken me a while. I am working on breathing and positive talk to myself. I am just starting week 4. I think that eventually I will be able to be off of meds. My bigger problem is with anxiety and not depression I think. I'll just try ant take it one day at a time. Thanks again,
