Hi!
I am currently on 0.5 mg/day of Klonopin...for the past 7 years. It does not do much anymore, unfortunately.
A few years ago I tried Lexapro and that actualyl causes me to experience HUGE adrenaline rushes that brought on back-to-back panic attacks. As soon as I stopped taking Lexapro these feelings went away and I swore I would never try another anti-depressant again...but here I am.
I have been struggling with agoraphobic tendancies for years, and this summer has been the peak point of it all. I can barely leave the house and want my life back. My docs have been pushing Zoloft, but then my counselor said it would have a similar effect to the Lexapro reaction I had. Ok, well that left me confused. Now my doc is talking about Celexa. Has anyone on here, with a sensitivity to meds, been successful on Celexa. Or is there any other med for a sensitive person?
Many thanks in advance!

Hi Reinventing Me, I can feel your pain. I am very sensitive to meds also. I tried something along time ago an anti depressant like you, I told myself I would never take another anti depressant again. In fact because of it I got where I would not take any meds (fear of medications). I have lived with agoraphobic for years like you I am sick of living like this so I had to face my fears about meds. I would not even take ativan which every Dr. I went to said to take it and it would stop the panic. At first I started taking ativan then my fear of medication was better I was now taking Tylenol and Motrin if I had a headache. My Dr told me that celexa was the weakest of the anti depressant and he likes that it is 4 dollars at Wal-Mart. Therefore, I tried it. I did not like it I only took it for a week. It gave me a headache because my jaws stayed locked up and every time I opened my mouth my jaw would pop. Now am on Pexeva I started off at 5 ml now am at 10 ml we are upping pexeva slow. It is working for me I have been going out of my confront zone I have even gone about 200 miles away from my home to see my aunt that I have not seen her, I know in 5 years. I would say give celexa a try if it don’t work try something else don’t give up.

Hi,
I just signed in today and was just readin what eeryone here is talking about and I am so glad I am not crazy. I did try Lexipro but had a reactions to it after 3 days,,,, then tried Celexa. Celexa really did me in. I know it workds for many people but for me some reason, my reaction to it was worse then lexipro. After taking it for a week, I couldn't eat - lost 6 lbs in 5 days, could not sleep and my anxiety was at a fever pitch. I was taking xanax 3 times a day to just cope with celexa. after 2 weeks, I told my doctor i had to stop and now i am just on xanax.... i am still searching for a drug that might help without causing a depency problem.

Hello,
I am sensitive to meds and I have tried Celexa and Zoloft and had bad reactions to both. What has worked for me is Effexor. It is more expensive but it has been a life saver for me. I also take Ativan for when I am having panic attacks. That works great for me too.

Has anyone tried Pristiq for depression? I have been on it for about 5 or 6 weeks and working some on the program. I feel better and my anxiety is better.
