Hello everyone,

Its been ages since I have been on here as I went through the program in November 07 and have been doing much better since. I would say I am 60% recovered from the disorder, including OCD at this point.. my question for everyone is in regards to a friend. He was taking Celexa and 2 Xanaxs' in the morning however he completely lost his sex drive. Upon relizing it was from the medication, he stopped all meds for about a month and a half.. he began to have depression feelings but he doesnt seem to suffer from much anxiety symptoms, he returned to his doctor and was prescribed the 2 xanax's in the morning and wellbutrin. My question is does anyone have any experience with these two together? I am not sure the xanax is needed in this circumstance and I was always told it is extremely addicting and unnecessary. Can anyone especially MEN comment on the sex drive issue? does anyone know whether wellbutrin is an SSRI or SNRI or neither? any information is GREATLY appreciated as I have searched the net and didnt find any answers! thank you!

Hello Maeggie - Sounds like you're doing really well. That's good to hear. Anyway - to the subject- A person I had dated for a long time was on Wellbutrin and said it enhanced his sex drive and said it was the only antidepressant that did not interfere with anything in this area. He was not taking Xanax with it though. I'm pretty sure that Wellbutrin is not an SSRI.

I never took the two together, but have taken them separately. Neither affected either my sex drive or performance. And wellbutrin was the only antidepressant that did NOT affect my sex drive. But everybody's body chemistry is different.

Don't ANYONE go to the Benzos board on Yahoo.... Unless you want to be scared out of your mind. Everyone here has problems enough to worry about, on that board all it will do is enhance your anxiety and give you another thing to obsess about. NUMBER ONE....follow your doctors orders, preferably a Psychiatrist. AND NUMBER TWO.....do not play doctor, alter your meds, up your own doses etc. That's what gets folks in trouble. If it is working for you , there is no reason to ALREADY start worrying about withdrawal. It is a scientific fact that most withdrawal is actual a return of symptoms from someone stopping a med that they still needed.
