When you take a med that causes weight gain, so you eventually get to a max weight or does it just keep going?

Bev, I gained 30 pounds and then stabilized. With in the past few months, my doctor raised my dosage, but I have actually been able to lose some of the weight I gained. So far, I have taken off 32 pounds. I hope this helps.

Wow, 32 pounds? That's incredible. How did you do it? I've been taking walks with my daughter and not eating so many sweets.

I began taking mirtazepine at the beginning of the month and have put on 4lbs. I understand increased appetite and weight gain are side effects. I'm wondering how much weight gain, and if it is the result of eating more or if the medication changes one's metabolism. Does anyone have experience with this?

I won't mention again how much weight I gained on Zyprexa, but I ate like a horse. The doc said studies showed with that drug indicated if you gained more than four pounds with it, you were at risk for metabolic problems like blood sugar. I had also taken this before with the same effect. I have lost 6 lbs since getting off of it 3 weeks ago.
I think if I had cut out sugar and had only one plate per meal, I'd have been ok.
