I've had it; made me very sleepy @ 1st then not so much. Sorry I can't tell much about its use as any type of antidepressant.

I was given this med a long time ago for insomnia. As I recall it was very sedating but I'm not sure how it works as an anti depressant or for anxiety.

I took it for sleeping, but after awhile it didn't really help for sleep. However, I did feel like it help during the day as an antidepressant ( I felt the affects the next day).

I took Trazadone to help me sleep but never for anxiety/depression. I would feel very drowsy and out of it the next day. Ambien works really well if you are looking for a sleep aide. There can be some weird side affects, but I only had trouble one time.

I was on Trazadone for a short time for sleep problems. Trazadone is a very old anti-depressant and has been around a very long time!
I believe at the time, I was taking only about 50mg at bedtime and that was it.
My mother-in-law is a nurse and said this medication is a very common one used with older people as an anti-depressant because it's more tolerable than the newer SSRI's. A normal dose for an elderly person for depression would be in the thousands of mg's.
So if you are taking this med for sleep, they work well but have a tranquilizing effect.
