My meds are so messed up. I was fine until I see this new doctor. I did want to get off some meds though. So he weaned me off of Lamictal, and then I got off Klonopin. HE replaced that with Valium. At first I didn't take Valium cause I didn't want to get addicted, but I was having withdrawals and he told me to take it and it stopped. So I am depressed probably because I am off Lamictal, maybe. That is my guess. I don't want to go back on it, but what should I do? I hate being on this many meds. My husband will get out of the navy in 3 years and we won't be able to afford it. It is just so overwhelming.

Hi Annie, I've taken several different meds for depression and to help me sleep over the last 12 years. Some of them were wonderful and gave me back my life (desire to enjoy doing things). You need to have faith in your Doc and learn to communicate with him/her. Some of the depression meds have sexual side effects and/or weight gain, and most of them take a couple of months to build up in your system. If you find meds that work, it's a relief! Also, ask your Doc about taking vitamin B-6 and a multivitamin, if you don't take vitamins now. I really believe that you know your body best, and know how you feel. Keep listening to the tapes, especially the self-talk. That was my biggest problem, so I'm reading "What to say when you talk to your self" by Shad Helmstetter, Ph.D. I've spent more than a week on Session 3, and am starting to see some progress! I hope this helps.
