Hi Kiddies:

I recently was put on an SNRI (Effexor)and am curious as to other peoples experiences on SSRIs vs. SNRIs and experiences with Effexor?

I believe some people need to be on meds, there is an internal biochemical issue involved, like myself. SSRIs had tons of side effects for me and didnt work well for my ocd. Effexor has been wonderful, no side effects and ocd is less intense.

Please post your experiences or information about an SSRI or SNRI! Thanks :)

I was just put on Effexor, and I haven't had any side effects yet either. It makes me really happy that the effexor is working for you. I hope it does the same for me.

The only SSRI that gave me trouble with side effects was Lexapro. Everything else I took didn't really do much to me, or for me.

SSRI's NEVER worked for me and I had a lot of side affects from them. They really mess with your head. They do work for some people though so just give it a try and see how you feel. I have SERIOUSLY been on every SSRI and SNRI out there! I was just put on Lamictal 3 days ago, it's classified as a "Mood Stabilizer". It's often used for people who are Bipolar, which I am NOT, but it is also suppose to be very effective in people with anxiety/depression/OCD and other mood disorders. So far I haven't had and side affects from it and I'm hopeful that it works. I also was perscribed Xanax (an Anti-Anxiety med.). I don't take as much of it as they perscribed, I mostly use it on an "as needed" basis but it seems to work well, Klonapin is also good for occasional use. That's been my experience, but like I said, everyone's body chemestry is different so what works for one may not work for another and visa versa. Good luck, I hope you find something that works for you but often it does take time and trying several different things.
