Tinnitus

Post by LyndaLu » Sat Jan 18, 2014 10:10 pm

Okay, my ears ring all of the time.
It is quite annoying !
I think this condition is called tinnitus ?
I know there is no cure for tinnitus, but does anyone out there have any tricks to lessen
the ringing in their ears. Is there any medicine for it ? I have not seen a doctor about
the tinnitus at all. Is my hearing at risk by the ringing in my ears ?

Thanks for your input.

I have ringing in my ears that come and go. I wondered if it was my medicine. It is annoying. a person could go to a ear nose and throat specialist. I am so glad to see you back on here I was so worried. I read where you got your disability I am so proud of you and you have found help. I don't know If you remember me but I lost my job 2 yrs ago and don't feel like I can work again due to my not being able to go very far from home. was it hard getting it? how long did it take ?

Hi!
Yes I have tinnitus as well. I have been to a ENT doctor, hearing test and all. It can be from many things, sometimes hearing loss. But, mine has been brought on from loud music when I was young, and I am a tooth grinder/ clincher, and TMJ. My dentist made me a bite plane that I wear at bed time. It helps, sometimes it is louder than others. somedays I don't notice it at all.
I tried gingko Biloba for a few years but I can't say it really helped as much as the night guard. I also have a loud wind up clock by my bed. It helps too.
I hope this helps, I know what a nuisance it can be. ;)

Dear THH:

I am a tooth grinder too !
I was supposed to have a special mouth guard made by my dentist,
but I put that on hold last year due to the cost.
Maybe I can plan on getting that mouth guard this year.

Dear forever young:

The road to disability benefits was long.
I was broke.
I did not have health insurance for a year.
I had to stop taking all of my psychiatric medications due to the cost.
My sister gave me money for several months so that I could pay my bills.
It was a very stressful and depressing time for me.
I cried all the time !

I hired a law firm to do the work for me.
From the date I applied for benefits to the date of my hearing
in front of a SSD judge was 21 months.
I won my case.
I started to receive my benefits immediately and I also received
a backdated settlement. I qualified for Medicare immediately.

This is not legal advice, I am just sharing my personal experience with you.

I hope this helps !

It is great that you are still going strong !

Thank you lyndalu for replying. I am so glad to see you back on here. I was worried about you as your last post said you weren't doing so good. I went to a DR who scared me about getting off meds. I saw where you said you had been in a hospital was it a mental ward like or just a regular hospital. I am so glad you are doing better. I have never filed for disability I aways thought I wasn't bad enough and could get better on my own. I am questioning that now.

Dear forever:

Last year when I was in the hospital it was for mental health reasons.
I was in there for 12 days.
I had been off of medications for over a year.
I was completely isolated at home during that time also.

My mom got sick in May 2013.
My mom was in and out of the hospital constantly.
Finally, in August of 2013 my sister and I had to place my mom into an assisted living facility.
That was the hardest thing that we ever had to do.
I knew at that time that my mom probably was not going to make it until the end of that year.
My mom died in December 2013.
