I feel for you. I also have IC, IBS, endometriosis, herniated L4-5 and now something going on with my neck. I had the procedure to diagnose the IC - it was no sweat! The IC can be treated very easily it will never go away but there are oral meds and/or meds they treat internally in your bladder. the best med when the ic flares up is pyridium - it sort of numbs the bladder. don't worry it does not make you lose control. It just changes the color of your urine - be careful it will stain. My mom had spinal fusion it worked great but she damaged it again and is going for the silicone disks. They are fabulous and should have been used a long time ago for people. I take the most wonderful fiber and vitamin supplements for my IBS as well as for the other cronic infections I used to get. I now only have 1/10th the problems I used to have - except for the back problems. hang in there and be strong!

Update ..... I found this post that I put out there awhile ago. My hubby and I relocated in june. and I saw brand new doctors. I went to the pain specialist and after a very throrough examination she asked if I ever had a MRI of my brain. I said "No" I am here for my back pain. She said well with all u have told me and after observing you I think we need to do a MRI. So I went and did it. Went back for the results She said "there is a few things that we are concerned about" I started to get scared. She then said "It is not cancer" so that was good.
So I went to the Neurologist and she Pushed me through 6 months of testing in 3 weeks. It was confirmed I have MS and I may have Hydrocephalus as well (that test came back abnormal too so we will retest in a few more months for that) But all of this is contributing to the pain I feel all the time. Now I studder I have all of these cognitive issues (learning and reading and computing) are all trouble to me. I can hardly walk much anymore. and My eyes are going crazy. the double vision and blurry eyes. I cant feel my hands and most of my feet. The pain shoots down my legs. I just dont have the energy to do anything much anymore. anyways. The doctor has declared me Disabled But I dont qualify cause I have not worked since 1999. It is sad and it is wrong. So we have to try to make it in this world with my hubby s new job and single income fam. anyways. I just wanted to vent a lil bit. So I did.... lol.

Hi Girls!
I was just reading all of your posts -my heart goes out to all of you. I wish I could do something for each and every one of you, but I have never known the pain you are suffering with the exception of interstitial cystitis and that can be very painful in and of itself. I can't begin to imagine the pain you all endure! I will pray fervently for all of you and ask God to watch over you and keep you safe and give you the strength and courage,in the days ahead!
God bless all of you!

With love,
Gale

Yoyomonica - I just saw a documentary on Hydrocephalus. The person had the same exact symptoms as you have. They put a shunt in to drain the fluid and the man is now walking and has had great improvement. I'm sure your neurologist is up on all of this, but it may be something to look into. ????

YoYoYoMonica,
Wow, do you have a lot on your plate. I took cymbalta for knee pain and being depressed from not being able to walk without pain and it worked great on the pain and it elevated my mood. Your MD would know what you can take now with your diagnosis, it might not include cymbalta. I read a book on happiness and it talked about 2 very happy cojoined twins. That put a different perspective on my sadness. Try to find little things to be happy about. When I do that it changes my focus.

Wow, you have so much to deal with it must be overwhelming! First of all I would suggest that you get a book on nutrition or go on the internet and re-evaluate your entire diet. Much of what you are suffering from will be lessened or eliminated through a change of eating habits. The website www.helpforibs.com is a wonderful resource on how to cope with IBS through diet and reducing anxiety.....also high blood pressure is often caused by too much sodium in the diet. Start checking all the food you purchase for the sodium level and change to low-sodium foods. Much of those also will help you with the IBS and constipation problems. My doctor put me on Mira Lax two times a day to deal with constipation problems as I was laxative dependent too. Boy, what a help! I can take this the rest of my life without any problems too. Mira Lax is over the counter in the pharmacy section.
Please INCREASE YOUR WATER INTAKE DAILY! I found it helped with my moods as well as my IBS issues. I have eliminated coffee and now drink PERO which is a coffee substitute found in some grocery stores and health stores. Chocolate can be substituted for carob powder when baking. Unfortunately the food we eat today is not the same as many years ago.....many more additives, sugar and sodium. The soil is not as rich in vitamins and minerals either. I really believe that a lot of this contributes to health/anxiety issues for many Americans. We have to educate ourselves and not become too dependent on drugs to "cure" problems that could be handled through better eating and exercising.....just a thought to ponder.

Don't forget to exercise to "lift" your mood.... a good probiotic from the health store also assists in maintaining a healthy bacteria balance in the bowel. After many years of chronic laxative use and general trauma and a non-functioning intestinal tract a doctor once told me that anyone with IBS should consider using probiotics daily just to keep in balance. I think Lucinda's program works well with a natural approach to achieving better control over our mind/body. I am hoping that combining her program with better diet will help me conquer negative thinking and anxiety. Good luck to all of us!!
