Healthy Life

I recently attended a 7 week workshop called "Healthy Living".

A companion book was given to us to use during and after the workshop.

I highly recommend this book for anyone with a chronic condition,

physical or mental. The workshop gave some great insight, but the

book is where all of the information is. The book is medically sound

and it was written by doctors at Stanford University.

The name of this large book is:

"Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions"
Self-Management of Heart Disease, Arthritis,
Diabetes, Depression, Asthma, Bronchitis,
Emphysema and Other Physical and
Mental Health Conditions
Bull Publishing Company

I have to admit it IS a large book ( 328 pages )
but I am just reading a little bit at a time
and also taking notes as I go ( and doing a
bit of under-lining on the pages too ).

Healthy Self-Management is important
for our physical and psychological conditions.
Also, if we have a chronic physical disease we are
almost sure to suffer depression along with it.
This is called "The Vicious Cycle of Symptoms".
Imagine this as a circle:
Poor Sleep, Physical Limitations, Pain, Stress/Anxiety,
Difficult Emotions, Depression, Shortness of breath,
Fatigue....and then back to Poor Sleep.
One thing leads to the other.
