I think a LOT of us can relate to being afraid of taking meds. I know I was for sure before I started taking Celexa. If you've been prescribed the Zoloft, I think you should definitely give it a try. If you're already dealing with your anxiety on a daily basis (for a whole year) then whats the worst that could happen? If it doesn't work, you can just stop taking it. As for the Thyroid meds, I think (but don't quote me) that if you're hyperthyroid, that can cause anxiety so you might actually lessen your anxiety by taking them. It's worth some investigation though, I'd say. Don't feel alone though. Meds are scary things when you're going through what we're going through.

Hey I love taking medicine. I spent about 15 yrs trying to be strong on my own and pull myself up by my bootstraps and be more Spiritual and all that. Nothing worked. I gave in took an anti-depressant and it saved my life! It made me see the beauty of nature and that heavy heart I had all the time all day was gone in about 30 days. The only side effect I had was dry mouth and dizzy if I got up too fast. No other side effects.
Then a few years ago I was getting horrible racing heart problems and bad headaches and it could be 20 degrees outside and I was always hot and sweating! Ends up my thyroid was very very low and underactive. I got put on thyroid meds and almost overnight I felt better, no more sweating and being super sleepy and the headaches went almost totally away . I still get them sometimes but it's a woman thing so you don't have to worry about that one hahaha
Modern medicine is a blessing and a gift. I say take the thyroid med for sure that will help you feel better right away.It did me

If you are worried about side effects on the other meds all you can do is try it and see. If they make you feel blah then don't take anymore and call your doctor. Talk to your doctor and tell them whats bothering you and maybe they will work with you on smaller doses? Anyway I know you can do this and if you can take some meds you can take all medssss..right?
Take care

I have been taking Synthroid for my thyroid every day for decades now. It is a medication with no side effects that I have ever heard about. Your doctor can actually run a blood test on you and knows if you are hyperthyroid or hypothyroid. Sounds like you are hypothyroid because they gave you meds. If you are hyperthyroid, you have the same symptoms as anxiety , but they usually give you radioactive stuff to kill off part of the gland.
If you have questions about your thyroid meds, definitely call your doctor and have him or his nurse call you back and explain the situation to you. You have a right to understand why you need a medication. It is also a good idea to tell them you are afraid to take your meds--they have heard everything in the healthcare field and can't help you if they don't know what you are doing.
