Rachel,

Dizziness is a common complaint with those suffering from anxiety. I had it myself and I really hated it. Sometimes my dizziness was so bad I felt like I was spinning. I noticed these sensations more when I was in public places. I remember hating that feeling more than anything. You might want to consider your breathing as being the culprit.

By learning some new breathing methods and practicing them everyday may help alot.

I have seen that dizzyness is a common symptom but I have it all the time. I feel like I am spinning as well and I fear that I am going to fall down. I notice it in public places alot but also I can just be walking in my house and feel it. I get very scared!

Dizziness is really really common with anxiety and it has a lot to do with breathing, as suggested by others. I get waves of it in social situations, sometimes at work- I know its anxiety. I also get it on the ferris wheel and if I do a flip in the pool- that's my inner ear! Seriously, there can be medical causes, but they are rare- far far more rare than anxiety. When you feel it next time, ask yourself, what am I thinking about right now? how am I feeling? Is my breath even and regular?

For me it is more of a feeling of being off balance, a very scary uncomfortable feeling. I get it especially when trying to stand still or stand in line. I feel as if I need to be leaning up against something. Mine has been going on for almost two years, pretty much everyday. If anxiety is the cause of it, it sure is amazing what anxiety can do!!

You know- this may sound silly to many of you but back when this disorder was at it's peak for me, dizziness was probably one of the hardest symptoms for me to deal with. I think it scared me more than anything. I read somewhere that if I was afraid of the dizziness symptoms to deliberately make myself dizzy to challenge those symptoms. So I remember, being on the grass at my parents house with all the children, deliberately spinning in circles and then giving myself permission to feel that way.
One might ask how this was effective for me and I can understand why someone would think it was silly, but to be honest it helped me to deal with that feeling and not fear it anymore. It really is nothing more than a symptom of anxiety. One thing we are all good at is being afraid of the symptoms that come with it.
Trust me when I tell you that I've been there and as uncomfortable as dizziness is, it can never hurt you. In fact, if you do your own research you will find almost all people with dizziness problems do not have any serious underlying issues. I just want to encourage you all to accept your feelings of dizziness no matter how hard that may be. By not accepting them, you are only increasing your anxiety and increasing your symptoms (which in include more dizziness). Hang in there - drink plenty of water and work on your breathing and relaxation methods. ;)
