I'm so sorry to hear that you're having such a hard time.

How much are you drinking? I would suggest that the drinking can't be helping. Have you tried journaling or walking to help calm your mind?

I felt so bad about a year ago or so I thought I'd never ever feel better. I never thought I could get that bad. But, I got better.

I'm having a rough week, but I KNOW that I've been through this before, I'll get through it again. that is a fact. After 20 years of dealing with the "boo monster" I know that my mind tries to make me think things are way worse than they are.

As for recovering. . . you do it a little bit at a time. the more you try to get better all at once and right now. . . the harder you make it on yourself.

What little thing can you do to take better care of yourself today? What little fun thing can you get out and do. A walk with a friend? A manicure? It's the little things that start to make the cobwebs clear away and allow the sun to shine just a little bit more and more until you realize that you are in the light again.

Hey Hope,

Is it the self talk that is making you worse.I think over self talk can drive you a little nuts,is that's what's happening ????
Let me know !!!!

One more suggestion that ties into Sit-N-Spin's post: I tried for so long to use the self-talk to MAKE myself feel better, but the way I used it made things worse. I'd get more anxious because "it wasn't working" or making it go away. The point of self-talk is to be SOOTHING to yourself WHILE you feel crappy. Don't expect it to all go away, but if you're gentle with yourself, it can ease the intensity. That intensity just builds and builds when you think "it isn't working" fast enough or good enough, etc.
Let all that junk wash over you, little by little...

I think when you get those creepy anxious feelings, it's like a wave. You just have to ride it out. You just speak honestly to yourself saying. This will pass, I will eventually feel better. It's true. Then you ride it out. Just like one wave doesn't go on forever nor do our anxious feelings. The self talk is to help us ride out the feelings until they subside.

Hello Hope:
I am sorry to hear that you are feeling bad these days.
I'm wondering if it isn't the daytime pills and the drinks at night.
A very dangerous mixture.
My advice is to try a 12 step program and get off the drinking.
(that is, if you can't do it on your own).
As a recovered alcoholic myself, I do know how depressing that alcohol is. Oh and how!!!
It is a depressant. And takne with 'pills' can really do a number on you.
By pills, I'm speaking of anti-depressants and anti-anxiety medicines of any kind.
They simply do not work together.
I will definitely say a prayer for you right now.
I hope you feel better soon.
Wishing you health!!!
