Hello all- well, I'm ready to break through some of those limitations. I have committed to teaching 6 Zumba classes (Latin-inspired fitness dance). I'm certified to do this, but haven't taught yet mostly due to anxiety issues plus other commitments. I need support/encouragement as I vacillate between excitement and sheer terror of a melt down in front of students, plus overwhelm when I go to practice the moves. Also, if anyone has specific advice for group instruction, e.g., should I be practicing every day and saying the verbal cues to myself? The jump from student to teacher is scary... but I want to try it! I'm ready! I hope! Yikes!

How fun! Good for you. I used to fill in sometimes for the aerobic instructor in some of my classes and I would always get nervous about it, but afterward everyone said it was fun, even when I screwed things up sometimes. We just laughed about it later. Stay loose, have fun, don't take it too seriously and everyone will have a good time.

Yes, like Mary Wargo said, have fun with it. Maybe keep some light humor in mind. And remember, float don't fight. If you start having that panic stuff, remember your breathing and positive talk and that it goes away.

Enjoy it!
Eileen :)
