I watched a show on monday called intervention and it had some elderly gentlemen with really bad OCD and anxiety.Of course after watching this show i have basically taken on all of this gentlemens symptoms and problems.I was doing so good and then i see something and get totally wiped out.He thought he was contaminating his grand kids with germs that he came in contact during the course of the day.It was so scary because im so afraid that i'll wind up like that and be crazy and all alone. Was wondering if anyone saw it or can relate....Thanks

I was flipping through the channels on Monday night and came across the show. I hit the info button on the TV and read what the show was about. I quickly changed it. I was concerned that if I watched it being the sensitive I am I would obessess how I could be like that poor man.
I really pick and choose what I watch on TV. To me its not worth watching something disturbing to me trying to prove to myself I can and then be a mess after it.
I had OCD tendenacies as a child-hand washing, counting, and touching things. As I got older I grew out of the activity ritual and replaced it with the obess thinking.
I was out recently and saw an older man touching, counting, kissing objects in a ritual activity at a Chapel. It frightened me so much that I left.
I so feel for those poor people. It has got to be so hard to carry those rituals with them.
Anyways I'd suggest chose to watch things that don't create fears/worries/phobias because we are so sensitive especially if you stress and anxiety level is high.
Take care and God Bless.

Hockey66. I saw that episode of Intervention. I also thought I would start worrying about being that way. But I said to myself this was just anxiety and I flowed with it. Remember, if you have OSTs about doing something or acting in some way, you won't. Flow with the anxiety and try to distract your thoughts with something else. I like to journal about my worries, read an inspirational book, go for a walk, meditate, etc.
Good Luck

I believe we all have fears of "going crazy" and that is a part of this anxiety omen we have over us. I have trouble watching some things on television also because it brings up old fears or feelings. Remember that you are in control and that is why you are here with us. You are going to be just fine. It is all in what you believe inside yourself. The positive self talk with belief that it is true will save you.
Arlie, I agree. Finding time is hard, but I try to tell myself that this time I need for this program has to take precedence because I want to beat this thing before it beats me. Ha!!!
