Hi, its been 3 years since I quit the program and I really want to finish it. My main struggles are public speaking and some social anxiety. I have a date this coming week with another couple who set it up and Im worried I will have anxiety and everyone will notice. The only way I will be able to get through it is if I drink. It makes me feel sick to think about..

First of all don't drink. I know, easier said than done. You can do this. Practice your calming skills and do visualization a few days before you go. No one will notice if you get a little anxious. Remember to do your breathing and focus on who you are with and not yourself. I wish you the best of luck and let us know how you did.

I agree with medgrl, don't drink. Alcohol is a depressant, and over the long haul, it is a bigger problem than anxiety. Yes, you really can do this with nothing more than the tools inside your head. Good luck.
