Hi,

I'm new here and have gained so much from this website! I was wondering if anyone here has this happen to them as they are about to fall asleep. I wake myself up just as I'm about to drift off to sleep with some sort of moan or humming sound. It's when I am breathing out! If I take a sleeping pill or a xanax before I go to bed I don't notice it. It will happen over and over until I finally just go to sleep. Does anyone else here do this and do you think it could be anxiety related? Thank you for any help or advice!

Hello,

Please don't worry about this ! I have done this for years...and it seems to be a harmless thing. It seems I notice it more when I am stressed, so I would say anxeity is probably the cause....Try a cup of calming camomile tea before bed----this usually helps me. Sweet dreams......

Thank you SO much for taking time to reply! It makes me feel so much better to know it happens to someone else and that I'm not going crazy! I will try some tea. Thanks for the suggestion!

Yes I can relate to the humming sound because I do the same thing. It helps me to stay in tune with my breathing I guess. I fight obsessive breathing and have been trying to break this awful habit for several years. I don't know how or when this started but its very annoying and frustrating at times. If I am very tense and nervous I find I do it more often. God bless. Susan
