Hi Fellow Anxiety Friends...

I haven't been on the board for a long, long time. I went through the program about 5 years ago, and it was a GODSEND! I felt like I got my life back.

I started up with some troubling symptoms a few weeks ago -- tingling/slight numbness in my face, neck and forearms. At first I thought it was anxiety or hormone changes (I've experienced some wierd perimenopausal symptoms the past few years). After a few weeks, the symptoms remained. Went to the doctor, and she ordered an MRI for tomorrow.

Has anyone experienced tingling face/hands as a symptom of anxiety? My anxiety, so effectively reduced from the program, is back in full force!! I especially get freaked out when my neck/throat area is tingling, and I think I can't breathe. Of course, I know that anxiety just makes it worse.

I hold my stress in my muscles to a large extent, including my face muscles, so I've gotten all kinds of weird feelings from numbness, tingling, even twitching. The tingling can also be from hyperventilating which you may not even realize you're doing if you're anxious. That said, it's a good I idea to get it checked out since being the anxious type, as am I, not doing so would likely make you obsess and hyper focus even more (causing more anxiety). I recommend you take a good look at your life recently and see if theres something causing you stress, something you're not dealing with, that could be causing some of the body sensations. Good luck on your mri.

yes, yes, yes, yes. When I was 18 my hyper ventilating caused hands and face to tingle. I had it again about three years ago, but just my face. Took Buspar for a week or two, then off and that took care of it. It probably would have stopped on its own. Kava Kava and or Valerian Root may help if its anxiety.
