I have always had negative thoughts but got off my meds in September and my thoughts are out of control-literally. Wats worse is I am in a relationship and am worried its going to ruin it. Should I get back on meds to help the thoughts and then start working on my positive thought replacement? The reason I went off them in the first place was because I kept forgetting to take them. HELP!!

hey Jules, If its worse you should talk to your doctor. maybe you need the meds. i have a very hard time remembering to take any meds b/c i hate them. but if you have a cell phone set the alarm on it thats what i did with my birth control. like at 9 at nite everynite and it really helps. i have all my friends doing that and remind yourself when the alarm goes off to stop what you are doing and take them.

Hi Jules,

Remember Jules they are only thoughts. Since you are off the meds, but I don't know what you were taking, is there some herbal or home remedy you may be able to take in place of the prescription medication? Such as, St Johns Wort or 5-HTP.

I pray that you get relief asap and that you stick to following through on the program. BTW, did you discuss getting off the meds with your Doctor? Or did you just get off them on your own?

I am kind of a newbee, and just starting session three, but I noticed at the close of session one, there are some advisories in the work book regarding changing medication regimen without consulting your Doctor or Therapist.

I only wish the best for you, and I will pray for your continued improvement.

Hugs,

jules, hey i havent even started the program yet, but i have been researching it. one of the main things that i have been told is to not stop taking your meds. the way i understand it is that you go thru the program then when you are doing well (for a period of time, differing with each person) then you and your doctor work on getting off your meds. i may be wrong or someone may disagree, but this is what i have planned. i am going to let my doctor tell me how long i have to be well before i can start getting off my meds. (i am verrrry scared to get off of them, i take them religously. i forgot to get my meds refilled during Christmas, so i was out for about 4 days. it was not pretty.

my opinion is that you go to your doctor and talk to him, if he thinks you need to get back on them then that is what i would do. explain to him about the program and that eventually you want to get off the meds.

hope that helps,

kim
