Ok i had a feeling back in 06 when i first started my panic attacks. The first thing that happened was i had this "out of body" numb feeling for a while and if i touched things sometimes my skin would crawl and my body would be sensative to touch. But i couldn't stand the out of body feeling.. it stopped when i got on antidepressants but i never knew what it was and i always questioned myself about it. Has anyone ever expirienced this feeling or know what it is?

LostGirl -

I'm not so familiar with the sensitive skin symptom, but the out of body sensation is very common with panic attacks. It's call depersonalization. In addition to your description, other people (including myself) have described it as a feeling that things aren't real, the sensation that you're in a dream, and feeling that you're watching a movie of what's going on.

The good news is that it can't hurt you and it goes away just like all of your other symptoms during an anxiety attack.

Be well,
Jamie

The only time I get the zaps or "electric shock sensation" is in relation to medication. I got them real bad whenever I would miss a dose of Paxil when I was taking it in the early 2000's. I also have gotten them recently when I started taking BuSpar - the strange thing is, that I would get them right after taking the medication - instead of coming off the medication like what most people experience. After having been on BuSpar for a few weeks now (and spreading out my dosages throughout the day instead of taking it all at once) this has gotten better.

For those suffering with long term zaps after having been off medication for years (perhaps another medication is causing this?) that seems problematic - I'm no doctor but could be some long term side effect of some of these medications or something else that is or is not in your body (look at your diet).

Zaps are not fun!

Curt..7 do you feel like you been rideing under the bus instead of being in it? Or like maybe it backed up and run over ya again?
What have you done to disolve or deal with the stress or brain strain?

Do you reinforce diet, no caffene, no sugars and get lots of exercise?

I know what you may be feeling. Good luck
