Hi,

My advice is to first of all just take it one day at a time. Do you have this program? Long lasting changes are usually made gradually and slowly. You are right that this is the way it's been for most of your life, but that also means that you have to give yourself time. My healing from most of my anxiety wasn't done over night. It probably won't happen over night, but it can and does happen. I suffered from severe traumas, and I just had to take it one day at a time. Sometimes, there are days when you have to take it one second at a time. The truth of the matter, is that when you are in the pit with anxiety, any improvement matters. Pay attention to any relief that you get:). Also, on a basic psychological level, when you start to have new experiences and behaviors, you will begin to have more positive associations. I've seen it in myself. I used to be afraid to go out in my community because of a lot of bad memories. As my anxiety began to heal, I began to have more positive associations and memories of times when I was anxious free in my environment. It just takes time:).

I think books by Claire Weekes really help to address the issue of memory in anxiety. I think most of her books are out of print, but I've had success getting them on amazon.com

Take care,

I also thought of the saying, "A watched pot never boils". Just accept and love yourself where you are no matter the level of your anxiety. Treat yourself like you are already completely healed and successful in your endeavors, and the time will pass sooner than you think, and the road won't seem so long:).

luvpiggy "a watched pot never boils" That statement rings sooooo true. I am always analyzing how I feel and I am sure that does not help. Thanks!!
