how do you go about getting peer support? I'm just starting. it was difficult to get started. I got attacks just thinking about even starting. I finally got thru the introduction. I want to learn to like myself and enjoy myself and life once again. I'm in my early 60's and would like to visit with others especially ladies who have been thru this or going thru it too. thank you n' God bless
phil 3 this one thing I do forgetting what lies behind, I press On to what Christ has laid hold of for me.
Welcome Pam!
As for getting peer support, you're already there. You just post new messages as you like in the appropriate topics. You also can respond to posts that interest you. It's pretty simple.
In addition to the general forums, there are forums specifically for people that started the program during the same month as you. The easiest way to get to the monthly forums is to click on the Peer Support menu button (above) and then select the month on the new page that opens.
There are other features like the chat rooms and private messaging too. It's pretty straight forward and I'm sure you'll pick it up quickly. Just explore the peer support sections and see what you can find!

I would like to know some other Believers in Jesus who have been thru this and have conquered and been healed.
Also I go to my psychologist tomorrow. he has been doing the EMDR procedure. I'd like to know what I can tell him about this program that will help him to help me use it in a complimentary way.
I haven't figured out how to put up a new post. it just says private and I don't want it private.

Hi Pam. I am a christian also and I also have done EMDR. I think it helps. I also was introduced to EFT. I really feel that the Lord brought me to these natural alternatives instead of taking medication. I am very prayerful that God will pull us through this. I am also perimenopausal so I have a bunch of other stuff going on. Could I talk to you sometime about that? Have you gone through menopause?
I don't know if I could be much help on the menopause thing. I went thru that some time ago, or at least the doctors say I'm postmenopause because of my hormone levels. I had a partial hysterectomy. I don't think I had much problems
with that part of my life.
what is EFT? I am taking medications at this point. I don't like to have to, but I do know they have helped. I was only sleeping a couple of hours a nite and got into more depressive state because of that. the meds helped that and they do help me some. however I think learning to trust in the Lord helps the most. I do know that some of this is chemcial imbalance because I can feel so good of evenings and early mornings now. I think we can pray for each other. I got the program in sept but am just now starting to use it. it seems overwhelming some, but I am asking the Lord to give me the determination to follow thru on it. I think these forums are great. we know that others have probs too and we are not alone!
tell me more about your alternatives to meds. I have a friend who says our nutrition is very important also.

Hello again Pam, I have been a vegetarian for about 7 years. Nutrition is so incredibly important. I don't eat any sugar or white flour or anything that has preservatives in it.Lot of fresh veggies and fruits. I do eat eggs, and fish. I do better with protein. I take vitamins. Research shows how important Vit. D and omega 3 oils are. EFT is Emotional Freedom Technique. It deals with energy meridians in your body and how you can release bodily reactions to stressful or emotionally hurtful situations. www.emofree.com is the web site for it. It has helped me. I am careful about if anything is new agey or if it does not feel right in my spirit. EFT has helped and I am very prayerful about it. Try it. It can only help. I also take Bach Flower remedies Rescue Remedy for stress. If I am feeling anxious or stressed out I put a few drops under my tongue and it seems to help. My husband and I have been on a roller coaster ride with all this and we are just trying to figure me out. I would rather know that what I am feeling is all me and not some side affect from a med. I have prayed for God to send His angels for help, and He sent me my husband. He is wonderful and very supportive. Let me know what you think about the EFT. I will pray for you. We could maybe exhange e-mails if you want? Peace and prayers to you!
Hi Pam karges and CathyB
I am also a Christian woman with many physical complications. Besides anxiety, depression, biopolar disorder I have fibromyalgia and sleep apnea. Believe it or not I feel great most of the time. I am still on medication for my moods and I take pain meds occasionally.
For the most part my overall improvement is from changing my lifestyle. Lucinda encourages us to learn to eat the right foods and to do some form of exercise regularly. My biggest fear was creating more pain by exercising.
Guess what, I started walking 15 minutes a day in April 2009. I gradually added walking up and down steps. I have lost 10lbs and my blood pressure is back to normal. (no meds) The walking improves my moods so much I now come to work saying, "Happy Monday". Ugh I always hated Mondays and Tues. and Wed.........LOL Take care ladies and keep up the good work. Stick to the program and follow it step by step.
