I'm a 33yr. old female. I take propranolol for a rapid heartbeat & very low dose .25mg of xanax each day (sometimes twice). I have been dealing with anxiety for around a year & 1/2. Panic attacks are basically gone, but I really need help or advice in this area. I'll tell what happens:
I go to bed between 11pm-midnight every night, get comfortable & sleep pretty good. I wake up between 5-5:30am automatically without an alarm clock, I wish my body/mind would let me sleep longer. My stomach, arms, head, face & upper body feel like they are on fire (literally) like heated up as if I've been laying in the sun for a long time, I get nauseous and my head feels out of sorts and I have a dull headache. This lasts for at least 30mins-1 hour every single morning. Also, if I take a nap during the day - no matter how long, I wake up with the same feelings. Why is it only after I wake up? Does anyone else experience this type of stuff? I've talked to the doc & he says it's anxiety - but I'm SO tired of that being the reason for everything that is going on with me.
My arms, face & head are hot, tingly, prickly with extreme heat as I type this. I've been up from a short nap for 25 minutes now & it's not letting up! I've done an ice pack on my head, face & arms and it helps very little....PLEASE HELP!!

I'm curious, are you still taking the Celexa?

I'm sorry you're not feeling well.

Have you had your hormones tested to see if there is an imbalance? I did that and it wasn't the answer. I had some problems with heat in my hands and feet but it has stopped for the time being.

Hi & thank you for your response!
I had to quit taking the celexa, it didn't agree with me. That was after only 4-5 days of taking it...I just couldn't handle it.
I've not had my hormones checked & I'm not even sure of how I'd get that done, but I'd like to.
My mornings are hard, but I try to stay positive. My worst physical symptoms usually start fading away around noon - 1pm (that's 7-8 hours of my day) since this stuff wakes me up around 5pm.
Then I've got 2 kids ages 3 & 5 that I have to raise, so it's very difficult. Especially since they like to argue & nit pick each other. I get short tempered with them very easily because I'm tired, anxious, worn-out, sleep deprived, etc....
I try not to be so negative, but it's VERY, VERY hard.
I go to the doctor on Monday, so I'll see what he can do for me.

I'm sorry the Celexa didn't agree with you. Did it bother you from the first dose or did it start bothering you after it built up in your system?

It is so hard to try medications for people like this. I have tried Prozac, Effexor, Lexapro, and now Celexa. Years ago, I tried Tofranil and took that for like 2 years. It helped me a lot.

I hope your appointment goes well on Monday. PM me if you need to talk.

TNL...This sure sounds a lot like pre-menopausal symptoms to me!!! I went through those hot flashes for years and years!!!

I would even have to go outside in the winter time to cool myself down!!!

You need to understand that sometimes it takes us (women) years and years to get through menopause!!!

I doubt seriously this would show up in your blood work, any time soon!!!

You almost have to be completely through the change of life before this shows up, which, will probably be years down the road...

I pray this helps..God Bless
