I have had them for years, on and off. But lately I have had them more frequently. I hate that feeling, it feels like you are choking up and then it makse you cough. It could be from my MVP or I guess maybe because there is alot going on these days. Sound familiar to anyone?

Sounds familiar to me!

I've had this symptom for years and can even remember the first time it happened. lol I don't have MVP and have had an echocardiogram done on my heart, so mine is strictly anxiety related. I go for long periods of time where it never happens and then BOOM it may happen quite a bit for the next several days. It feels almost like my heart stops and my throat seizes up for just a second. It is the most horrible second EVER! In the past I would stay in a near constant terror of when it would happen again, but now after going through the program, I just take it in stride. It happens, ok it was uncomfortable and a bit scary, but it's gone now and is no big deal. Since adopting this attitude, I've found that the feeling happens less often than it used to. I also notice it more when I'm more stressed and super tired. Hope this helps.

Yep, I have been to the ER and the doctor more this year than anytime in my life! Lots of heart skipping around - all anxiety - and hormones!

I am learning to ignore them as I have been thoroughly checked out. I hate them too - hang in there, it will get better!

I have had this too for many years I even had an ablation done on an extra passage my heart had. I have had every test in the book done and still ask my doctor about it and she is sure that they have not missed anything but I still freak out when it happens and especially when it hasn't happen for a while and then it happens again and then the anxiety sets in and I then it just makes me worse I go through periods when I can just blow it off but when I can't I think the worse and end up making myself worse in the process. My doc says it can have a lot to do with what you eat my is worse the more sugar and caffeine I have and sometimes it is worse around my period. I hate when I get in that state of mind where I just can't shake it and I feel like I am just going to have a heart attack any second. I wish we could just turn a switch and say just relax and we actually would. I have had such a hard time relaxing for most of my life unless I am asleep and sometimes I even feel like my dreams are stressful lol. So I just keep trying to keep myself in check and hope for the best.

Hi Cosmogirl, what you eat can definately make a difference! I had an episode last night when what I had for dinner hours earlier decided it wasn't going to settle on my stomach very well. Then there went the heart palpitations! I was up until after 12 midnight until things calmed down! My first reaction though was to run to the ER but I talked myself through it! Yeh! One for me!

Hey everyone, I also have this fun problem. I to have been to the heart doctor 3 times have had all sorts of tests and was told it was stress. Yes food or lack of food can do it. Still it gets me everytime. It will happen then here comes the panic. What fun scares the heck out of me. 5 years and it still bothers me everytime. I started the program three weeks ago and I am able to deal alitte better with it I thi k by week 15 hopfully we will all have this behind us.
