About 1 month and a half ago I had a sleepless night and it started an anxiety to go to sleep. I have been taking lunesta because I could calm myself to fall asleep but I was feeling more generaly anxiety and mood swings. About 4 days ago I stopped taking lunesta. The first night was a rough night and I think I sleep about an hour which was big because it was the first time I sleeped without lunesta. The next night I finally sleeped about 7 hours. I thought I was fixed but then the next two nights I haven't been falling asleep until around 4 AM. Today I have been really anxious because I'm sooooo tired and worried I won't fall asleep tonight. Need help to know I will be ok.

Hi Ricko
You did not say if you are taking any kind of other medication. I had a tough time adjusting to an SSRI I was taking last winter. It took 7+ weeks to adjust and insomnia was one of the side affects. I tried a similar sleeping aid but had a rebound affect and stopped. I am sleeping well now and I hope you can achieve the same.

I'm not taking any other medication. Deep down I know I will be ok. But I'm scaring myself that I will have trouble sleeping tonight.

Hey Rick you are going to be just fine. I really understand what you are going through. I delt with that for a long time. I still deal with daily anxiety which I am working on but feel relief to know that I no longer have any trouble with my sleep. If fact I have slept in a couple of mornings lately. If you ever need anything let me know.

hey ricko , i could totally relate to you . i also have trouble sleeping . it gets me really anxious, specially when i look at the time and i realize how late it is .even if i am tired i just cant seem to sleep because my mind is raicing with thoughts and scary images . Sometimes i wake up in the middle of the night with a full blown panic attack and it takes me hours to fall back as sleep . As a matter of fact for the last 3 days i havent slept more than 6 hours all together . I start worrying in the morning that i wont be able to sleep at night and it becomes the obsession of the day for me . Something that has help me is to read a book before bed time, while drinking hot tea. Try to find tilo tea , its all natural and it promotes relaxation . another thing that helps me is to come in to this website and share my stories with others until im sooo tired i eventually just fall to sleep .. I hope it helps ..

Thank you for the support. I slept about 7 hours last night. It took me a little bit of time to calm down but I think I found a technique that helped me. I started counting my breaths.
