Hi all, I am back here after 3 years of doing really well. (I took Lexapro last time and it helped and then got off it). Now after years of struggling with a personal issue, I started getting muscle spasms in my neck which turned into arm and leg numbness upon laying down. It woke me up last night and was up all night b/c it freaks me out. I keep thinking I have something else wrong with me and it cant be anxiety.
Did anyone else ever get the arm and leg numbness? It would help so much if I knew it was just from anxiety and then I wouldnt be so afraid of it when it comes. BTW- I still keep anyone suffering from anxiety depression in my prayers after being on here from years ago. Thanks so much, Maria
Does anyone get arm and legs tingling/numbness from anxiety?
Hi, Maria. I read your post and can relate. I, too get numbness and tingling in my arms and legs when I have anxiety and panic attacks. I know many times it is just from that. But, if you're having muscle spasms in your neck, that could also very well be causing it. You might want to talk to your doctor about the muscle spasms. You could possibly have something that could be helped.
But, I just wanted you to know, you're not alone. I experience the same thing with my attacks. All is well.

Hi Maria,
the numbness and tingling is actually one of my worst symptoms. It scares the you know what out of me when I get it! I thought for sure I have had many things wrong with me. I have had it for the past three years off and on and in various parts of my body. Just another glorious anxiety symptom....

Hi Maria. I can relate as well. I'm currently back after about a year and half of being relatively ok. Actually, I was doing great! However, my anxiety has come back strong again due to stress and lack of sleep and being tired all the time. We have a 7 month old that has brought this on. = ) The numbness and tingling are symptoms I've been suffering through as well. And yes, they freak me out!!!!! Just breathe deep and relax. Name it anxiety and that it's just that. I know it's hard. Especially for those of us that have anxiety due to health related issues. Try and get some rest and get your mind to focus on something else.
I have super long limbs and sometimes get it in my arms if I'm not lying straight, or have arms crossed or something.
I'm sure it has a lot to do with circulation - are you currently in a fitness routine and how is your diet (I know I ask a lot of people that, but I find that food directly relates to so many facets of our well being).
I would say that a high fat diet would correlate to slowed down circulation.
There have been studies done with olive oil, yes people think that olive oil is so heart healthy, but it actually has the opposite effect - it slows down blood circulation.
It's the fresh fruits and veggies that are so heart healthy. People think that the Mediterranean diet is heart healthy due to the olive oil, and so they pour it on non fresh foods - they completely missed the mark about the abundance of fresh foods and instead focused on olive oil.
