Hey guys,

Wondered if you have some useful tips for how to deal with anxiety about taking medications. I have a skin rash and fever and they are having me take prednisone and an antiviral medication.

Apparently prednisone is known to increase anxiety, among other fun and exciting side effects some potentially serious, and the antiviral can destroy your kidneys... Sometimes I get so scared about and obsessed over taking medication that a panic attack comes on! I know I need the medications to get over the rash, especially because it is on my face. THREE doctors told me. I went for two other opinions.

Any tips, other than NOT reading the long list of side effects? Thanks for your help!

cuttingirl I just saw this, what did you end up doing?

I don't like taking meds either, but if I really, really have to I just "bite the bullet" and do it LOL.

The side-effects aren't fun for sure! But sometimes they are necessary.

At least you don't have to take them forever, right? They are just a limited-time dosage?

Hi Cuttingirl, I too, just now saw this posting. You have probably already worked through the anxiety about the meds by now but I wanted to share that I too, have had major anxiety in the past about taking meds. I would always check all the possible side effects. Sometimes I would even cut the pills in 1/3 or 1/2. My husband would tease me and say, "Oh, just lick it!" Of course, I would get mad at him at the time but now I can laugh. :D Anyway, for future help, my suggestion would be first, pray over the meds. If you have a choice, and don't have peace, don't take it! If it is something that you really need to take, then pray and pop it by faith!!! God bless and I pray the rash is gone by now!! Good advice from Shif too!!!
