I have always been scared to get on chat. I did get on chat once before they changed to the new look & when I got on someone said hello triple “L” & I freaked out & got off the chat. Now I have the nerve to try it but I can’t get on chat. All I get is the little person in the middle that turns blue then nothing. I have an HP computer with Windows XP & I have DSL. I have yahoo instant messenger & it works fine. Everything on my computer is updated so that shouldn’t be the problem. Anyone have any ideas?

This should be good practice for you then, as you are home and comfortable. I have avoided chat because I come on and get a big hello and feel bad leaving all of a sudden, however I'm not frightened by it. Tell yourself it's okay to be nervous and just float through the feeling. Whether 5 people say hello or nobody says hello, you are in control of you and the situation on your end. It doesn't matter what anybody else thinks or says to you. You don't have to answer if you don't want to, you can just watch and read the conversations. Give it a try and before you know it you'll be comfortable with it all.

I tried that but it didn’t work. I have been trying to get on line for at least a week or two. I have tried a few other things but no luck as of yet. I will just keep trying, some day I’m sure I will get on LOL. Thanks for the help.

I agree with you that it would be good practice & I was scared to get on chat & I’m still a little nervous about it. But the problem is chat wont let me on all I get is a little guy in the middle of the screen that twirls & turns blue. After that there is some kind of icon in the upper left corner. If I click on it, it moves once to the left & after that it won’t move or do anything. Your advice as far as when I do get on chat is a very good one, at least I have an idea of what to expect when I get there.
