First of all did you know that Lucinda's husband David committed suicide June of 2008? The link is in Wikipedia. For those who criticize her, no one is immune to these feelings. It was really hushed up so it wouldn't hurt her business, I presume. I'm sure doctors lose patients, so it is hardly her fault or that of the program.

Finished the program several months ago, and it is very good. Please believe that YOU are the one that can control your anxiety, not meds or others. It is well structured and the workbooks are very important to follow and to do the exercises. For those who complain about the cost, get a copy on eBay like I did. My ins. doesn't cover mental health care, it cost me $400 for a few visits with a psychiatrist and meds, and no one seems to complain about that. I have some things I feel she said (and others echo) that IMO are wrong. I fainted several times from anxiety. So don't say no one will notice you are acting funny or it is ok if you are shaky. She advertises to get you off meds, then pushes an anti-depressant in the later tapes. Now she is selling overpriced vitamins also. The program constantly brags about itself throughout the course. But it is well-structured and the info in the workbooks is great, but you must Do it and not just Read it. I finished several months ago and still have occasional anxiety and take no meds, but am greatly improved. Also recommend the book "The Power of Now".

What's your point, here? Your endorsement of the program is tempered with attacks on Lucinda. I'm just curious what you're getting at....

I agree with Jason's post. What does Lucinda's personal family matters have to do with anything? In some parts of your post you praise the program, in other parts you crucify it. I don't understand your point in this post at all. You must have a motive in all of this, I just haven't a clue what you are on about.

Poppy, I heard about the program first from my sister who used it after having severe anxiety following the birth of her first daughter. It completely changed her life! I'm not putting much stock in this post because it sounds to me as if the person who posted it has a grudge of some kind. Don't worry too much about it. Everybody I know who has gone through the program or knows about it raves about its effectiveness. Chin up, Poppy! I think we're still good.

Hi Jason & Poppy
What you get from this program does not depend on the actions of others! There is no magic, do not expect a complete cure after 15 weeks. You will understand yourself better, I did. I discovered things about myself that I felt needed improvement. As a result I feel better about myself and make better choices.
It is important that you be honest with yourself.
You will have the tools to deal with the anxious times in your life. I believe that those of us who have anxiety may ride an emotional roller coaster all our lives. This program helps us to deal with the low points.
Best wishes

I don't disagree with your post. I think everyone is entitled to their opinion. I appreciate honesty and don't think you have an agenda and do make some valid points.
Unfortunately for Lucinda, her life is made public due to her advertising and making profit from her program, which is helpful to the point which each individual person using it will allow.
I am deeply sorry for her loss and hope she continues to thrive. No one can know the pain of losing a loved one until it happens to them. People in the public forum (just as everyone else) should be allowed the decency and respect to live their personal lives without judgment.
The point of this program is not to judge yourself harshly, not to hurt your own feelings with your own thoughts. Empathy for one's self is the whole concept, I believe, of this program.
Empathy should, therefore, also be offered to others. I know I have judged myself more harshly than anyone else ever could or will. I'm still learning, like everyone else, how to accept myself and live, not dwell.
I have the book "The Power of Now" in my bookcase and just noticed I read the first 13 pages and put it back on the shelf. Probably sidetracked by "life." I plan to finish reading it. I'm interested in others opinions and wish others the same peace I am striving for.

Julie, if my response came across as not empathetic, my apoliges. I certainly am empathetic, ESPECIALLY to others suffering like me -- and, everyone is most certainly entitled to their own opinion. My only question regarding the motive behind the post is the fact that it is laced with, what seem to me, personal digs at Lucinda regarding the tragic death of her husband. A fair-minded and impartial critique of the program does not require any mention of the events in the personal life(lives) of its authors....in my humble opinion.
I am more than empathetic about this. I just don't see the need to drag personal details into a legitimate discussion. Again, I'm sorry if I was misunderstood.
