I feel like an embarassment!

Because I'm the only one in my family without a car or a relationship...I feel that there's something wrong with me, like I don't belong in my very own family.

I'm trying to get a car at around $2000, but the mileage on them are usually 100,000+ miles, and I tried those dating services but they just don't seem to work.

I feel that I'm the Black Sheep in my very own family.

Given the choice, I'd rather feel a little embarrased (accept it) than to deal with the pain of being stressed out about my family or friends reaction; I wasted too many years worrying about what other people think. Try to progress towards your goals daily and things will work out ...

Dating: Eventhough the romance never took off, I've made some good friends through dating sites. The positive viewpoint is that I know they have friends who may have friends and maybe someday someone will say, hmm, you know what, I know you're shy and a little anxious but I have the perfect person for you to meet, let me set you two up. So, you may not strike gold today but maybe someday you just might. Romance is out there somewhere ...

Car: $2k is a lot of money. Sure, you're not going to get a "perfect" car but you can eliminate pitfalls of a bad investment with instinct and good research. I'd recommend a small commuter car that was previously owned by an adult driver (Ex. 35+) or a car that was a second car for the family. Sure, the mileage may be high but it may be grandma mileage or highway mileage and the car may be in great mechanical shape because adult drivers usually get the oil changed every 3000 miles and they take care of the car. Trust your gut and focus on the mechanical aspect even if it means paying $100 to have a mechanic look the car over before you buy it. OR see if you can use the $2k as a downpayment for a certified pre-owned car at a car dealer.
