I have little or no appetite. When I do feel hungry and try to eat, I become sick at my stomach after only a few bites and begin to feel anxious. I have bought Ensure but have to gulp it down. I also have to force myself to drink water since it makes me feel nauseous. This is just somethibng else for me to worry about! Will it ever end??

Can you drink just some milk? Are you worried about your weight? Are you losing weight?

I can sympathise with you I to don't feel like eating when I am anxious. I was recently diagnosed with reactive hypogylcemia which is brought on by stress & anxiety. Sugar & refined flours should be avoided I was eating more treats to try & keep my weight up. Knowing this new diagnosis I will be avoiding all junk. I am more determined than ever to fight & conquer this horrrible disorder. Our life depends on it.
Have you tried to deep breath & concentrate on chewing & the flavor. Use your stop sign, listen to relaxing music, I know reading during eating is usually a no no but maybe for while reading something positive or distracting could help.

Life is Good.

I am not really worried about my weight...I could lose a few pounds and still be fluffy :D I am more concerned about my health. I don't want to get dehydrated. I have probably lost 10 lbs since April 1...for awhile I had a "knot" in my stomach and couldn't eat at all. That has passed but I still have days when I find it difficult to eat or drink. I think my stomach has shrunk so maybe it would be better for me to eat numerous small snacks/meals as I feel hungry.

I wasn't able to eat either due to the "gut" system churning. I found that eating anything with protein such as eggs, tuna on toast or sandwiches, chicken, sea food, beef all helped to make me feel better and my stomach tolerated it. I lost weight at the beginning of this journey of anxiety, but I was glad about it and now it has stayed off due to not being able to eat sugary snacks, etc. due to the anxious feelings I feel.

I can't really eat vitamins either as they bother me as well as Advil or aspirin, I still take a little bit, but can tell a difference. I'm also 56 and going through the Change. I'm also off of anti-depressants, one of the reasons what that I felt I had gained weight on them. If you can drink 1 % milk that will keep you hydrated, give you some calcium for bones, etc. and it is calming. Paislee

This post is so much more reassuring that you do not have a serious eating disorder which might require professional help. The body does not necessarily need food as much as it needs liquids. So do try and drink as much as you can. Maybe make some soup you like to give you liquid and nourishment.

Wish you the best.

I went thru the same thing, i think it's real common. just try to get a little food/drink that you can handle as many times as you can thru the day. i remember when i went thru this it was really hard and i was scared it wouldn't end. But it will. it takes time. try ginger tea just sipping it. you will defiantly get thru this, your just going thru a rough time. when i was going thru it the best advice i got was to everytime i worried about it or felt sick and upset tell myself it's fine, it will pass, i'm not going to think about it and get busy doing something. keep doing that over and over and slowly over time you'll feel yourself again. remember to be kind and gentle with yourself. take care. ((hugs))

The ginger tea is a good idea. It really helps me if I feel nauseous.
