Constant Bloating/Gas
Constant Bloating/Gas
Has anyone had constant gas/bloating from anxiety? Doesn't seem to matter what I eat, I get bloated and feel miserable. Stomach is always gurgling and rumbling. It doesn't cause me to have to use the bathroom. It's just nonstop gas/bloat. I'm just wondering if anxiety is the culprit. I have GERD and take nexium daily, usually don't get any heartburn, but the bloat has been with me for years. Just trying to ease my mind to see if it's just another trick of anxiety messing with me. Hard to ignore, though. Thanks
Re: Constant Bloating/Gas
This is a great question. I would also like to know answers on this because I feel the same way. I also have GERD. I feel like I need to burp constantly and am so uncomfortable at times.
Re: Constant Bloating/Gas
I get this off and on, even though I'm on Omeprazole (Losec) for GERD. I don't have it every day, but for me it seems to occur without warning regardless of what I eat. I should keep track as it could be anxiety related. I never thought about that before but it makes sense. I know some foods and milk set it off for me and I avoid them. But at other times it appears out of nowhere and is very uncomfortable. So, I'm not sure. But you are not alone for sure.
Re: Constant Bloating/Gas
I get this too and have suffered for about 15 years. Recently I went to a naturopath and she explained that when our bodies are so stressed out it affects our ability to create certain digestive enzymes such we are not able to digest our food properly. She recommended a digestive enzyme (pill form) and offered a couple tips on how to eat smarter: 1. Drink water between meals, not with meals - drinking with food dilutes the digestive juices in your stomach - we need a high acid level in order for our digestion to work properly). 2. Cut out gas producing foods - broccoli and brussel sprouts are some of the worst. I've also introduced an acidophilus powder into my morning shake, as well as a multivitamin. I finally feel "normal". I highly suggest seeing a reputable naturopath to help you with this.
Re: Constant Bloating/Gas
YES...YES....YES....Anxiety can greatly affect your digestive process...Simply, when you are under very stressful or anxious moments the blood races out of your stomach and into the major limbs ie....arms and legs. This is to of course make you quicker and stronger for the danger that your brain is telling your body is about to happen. The mind can be your greatest gift are your worse enemy at times. Do not let your digestive issues frighten you. It's all about what state your mind is in as your stomach is trying to digest your food. With lower blood supplies I assure you your stomach will not digest food proficiently.
