Stress Center Peer Support

Hey guys...really bummed right now, cuz I had some blood work come back revealing that I have Insulin Resistant Syndrome! Of course when I heard the word INSULIN I automatically freak out, cuz I immediately think of DIABETES!!!

Well I was informed that I don't have Diabetes, but can get it if I don't change my eating and exercise lifestyle. I am scheduled to get on meds for this and my nutritionist is going 2 help me to eat better, bcuz this condition can b reversed!

My family just had a tragedy a few weeks ago, bcuz one of my close Aunt's just found out she had full blown Diabetes, and it was soo bad they had 2 amputate one of her legs!!! Of course as soon as I get the info that I have Insulin Resistant Syndrome, my mind goes directly 2 her and her situation!!! I need prayer!!! I don't want 2 end up like that, bless her heart!!! Being a Diabetic has been one of my BIGGEST FEARS being that it runs on both sides of my family!!!

I'm saddened by the news, but at the same time, it has to b a wake up call 4 me as well!!! I will do better, by the WILL OF GOD!!!

Does anyone else have this, or ever had this?? Was it scary for you as well?? I hope 2 get feedback, as this worries the heck out of me!! God Bless!

Wow, no one can relate 2 this??? I did find one other person on FB who has this condition as well, but it jus makes me feel better when there r others who can relate, especially when they have positive suggestions, and stories as how they got or are gettin through. God Bless!!

I don't have this, but I do know about it. You get it when your body pumps out more and more insulin and just can't seem to get the response it needs to get. You are very lucky that you found out and that you can do something about it. I wouldn't freak out if I was you, I'd count my blessings and get working on it. You'll have to give up stuff that you think is "needed" and it probably will feel "unfair, etc." but in the long run eating cleaner and exercising will help you with your desired weight loss and help alot with your anxiety feelings.

I get a magazine called "Clean Eating" that is excellent. I bet you could find it at your library or at a magazine shop near you. They are very creative and it's fun to see what you can do with food, without relying on crap from the snack aisle.

Hi Brandi- I'm sorry to hear that you have this condition but so glad that you have a fighting chance to not suffer from diabetes. They had a guy on the Biggest Loser last season that due to diet and exercise was able to go off of all medication for Diabetes so I hope that you will be able to prevent having to use as much medication he was on. My bro in law was able to stop taking insulin as well after he lost weight and he even had plastic surgery done and is doing well. He lost his wife to breast cancer but is starting a new beginning as well.

Thx so much newrunner and paisleegreen! I am doin better, eating better, and for the past 3 wks have exercised 5-6 days a wk! My nutritionist was impressed that I had gotten started on a new lifestyle b4 I had even had my 1st appt. with her! I am sooo thkful 2 my almighty God that he has given me a chance 2 turn my life around. Pray 4 me cuz it isn't easy some days, but it was easier to get started and have stuck with it even 4 the past 3wks than I had expected! God Bless!
