Hello every one. I am newbee and first want to say this is a wonderful and helpful site.
My question is... I have received clearance from my cardiologist and Primary Care doctor. They both are insistent that the chronic, daily palpitations I am experiencing are nothing serious. They keep telling me they will pass. They seemed to increase while I was taking the antidepressant, Remeron. I did some researching, in fact I contacted the manufacturer and they said it was a rare side effect but reported that 1 in 1000 experienced skipped beats/ palpitations. My primary doctor is insistent that it is NOT the medication. I did stop it and have been off of it now for 2 days. My question is.... How do you deal with these daily palpitations and what can be done to elevate them?
PLEASE HELP!

Hi Kim, I can sympathize with you as I too have experienced daily heart palpitations. You can try taking extra magnesium as that has helped some people. Even my cardiologist put me on calcium/magnesium supplements to help. Does it? I don't know - they still kind of come and go as they please. I know with me that stomach issues can irrate them. And hormones. Drink plenty of water and make sure you are not anemic as that can increase them too. And of course, anxiety can cause them. I hope they decrease for you soon. Until then, try to take comfort in knowing you have been checked over and given a clean bill of health!! ;)

Hi Kim,

I have those wonderful palpitations also and at first they scared the hell out of me. I was checked and rechecked the checked again and everything was fine. I swaer I had more holes in me and more wires hooked up to me than a mini golf course. I can tell you that I personally agree with your Drs. In fact as a fellow sufferer I can tell you it is, more then likely, the anxiety doing it to you. I have been on more meds than I care to say and have never had them get any worse. They fun little "flutters' started before I knew I had anxiety. Well, they are what caused my anxiety. Try to relax and ignore them. it is just a symptom nothing more.

Welcome aboard

Thank you Wildcat!
i appreciate all the kind words. It is so nice to know thatI am not alone with this.
they started me on beta blocker, hoping to elevate these skipped beats and it has seemed to help a bit. However; as I feared, my blood pressure is very low as a result. I explained to the Electro Cardio Physiologist, that I do not have hypertension and feared a drop off in the pressure. At the time he assured me this would not happen. Well... low and behold, what was my pressure this morning??? 90/63. Yep just as I thought. So I contacted his office again today to see if they can make an adjustment.
I swear sometimes you just wonder if the pharmacudical ( sp) and the doctors are in together? I agree with you... too much meds is not a good thing.

I will up date you as to what the doctor says once I hear back.

God bless,
Kim

I completely understand what you are going through. I started having heart pap last month and my cardlgst put me on a beta blocker and you talk about a major downer. My stomach was upset every single morning and was totally wiped out. I have been off since of them for about 3 days now. While I do have energy I still getting the heart pap, but that is anxiety related. So now I am not on anything and trying to find some other solutions to dealing with the anxiety symptoms. I try relaxation cds, candles, reading the bible, reading positive materials, talking on the phone to a supportive friend, etc. Hopes this help. But this site has some very supportive people. Have you purchased the program yet?
