Hi there.

Anyone have any good ideas for getting through morning anxiety?

EVERY time I get some kind of an illness...this time it's diverticulitis, I get bad panic/anxiety through it. I cannot handle being sick. I know I need to learn how to deal with it, but reality is, it's difficult for me.

I always worry I won't get better, it's the wrong diagnosis, etc. I can't take comfort in knowng I have medicine, I have a good doctor, I received good care at the doctor's office.

I also worry that I will become dependent on someone or miss too much work. It's awful.

But it's worse when I wake up. I wake up almost in a panic attack with incredible anxiety. It takes all my energy to get to work. Sometimes I can make it through the day, yesterday I couldn't.

And today is also my birthday so I keep thinking I SHOULD feel better.

Help! I am having a hard time coping.

Happy Birthday, Keeping the Faith! I will have to study to find out what diverticulitis is.

Do you have a family? What are your plans today for your birthday? Birthdays and Holidays can bring on expectations that might now happen. So what are you expectations for today and the Holidays.

Are you feeling stress about things happening this month? Write down you negative thoughts and try to put the "lie" in it. :) Paislee

Happy Birthday! Don't stress over being sick. Just tell yourself it's temporary and you will get through it. As far as the anxiety attacks in the morning, I can relate. I was in a job where I didn't do anything but sit there and answer the phone for 8 hours a day. I started to panic and have anxiety about going to work. I missed a lot of work and last Monday just got let go from the job. Listen to the tapes, have Faith.

Think positive thoughts and know the way you feel is only temporary.....it will get better!

THANK YOU Paislee and Lilmomof3! You are both right!

I'm HORRIBLE with being sick. I keep having to remember to give myself permission to BE sick and not feel up to par.

Hi Faith, I just experienced an anxious moment when I went to my storage room to get my Christmas Nativity figurines. I saw what my sons had done to the storage room and it brought on some anxiety and some negative thinking. I remembered what Lucinda has said about negative thoughts and replacing them, also to use the anxiety energy to "clean closets", I got the vacuum that was downstairs and cleaned the stairs and then upstairs. Then I ate some Tuna on toast and I'm feeling a bit better.

I will have to address this issue later as I calm down and learn coping skills. :) Because it is clearly upsetting me. :p Paislee
