Well I have recently just got off of ativan. not by choice but I dont have my insurance renewed till the 22nd of this month so I don't have a way to get meds till then. so yea i had been taking .5 mg 3x a day for awhile an had been on them for about a year. so I pretty much went from 1.5 mg a day to just quiting to none. I kinda did better than I thought the first few days not on them. but on monday at my softball game I had a anxiety attack. I hadn't had one that bad in about 6 months. and yesterday and today my body's just felt numb. I brush my teeth and I can't feel the toothbrush. I feel my face and can barely feel it. feel my head an doesnt feel like anything. my hands my feet feel numb. it's weird. is this normal? this a withdrawal from the pills? is it just plan anxiety? it's kinda of freaking me out.

this is really a question for your doctor. We are all so very different and all experience medicine in various ways. What may be normal for one person could be Very dangerous for someone else. Please call your Dr and talk to them or their nurse and have them call you back.

Hi Zach,
I second jillzmind answer. Since you were on them for a year, it would be wise to check in with your doctor. It is not good to just stop a benzo cold turkey. Take care.

Zach it's better to be safe than sorry. What if it was something very serious? We aren't doctors and It could have been very dangerous to just give you an opinion. I am glad you are okay.

zach,
I agree you should always check with your doctor but I will tell you that I experienced what you are going through. I was very depressed at the time and I didnt feel like my body and my head were connected. I woulkd touch my legs and arms and not even feel it. I have not been on medication. I will tell you that that lasted for quite a while but I dont have that anymore. I was also told it was a symptom of anxiety. I dont know if you have the program but I think the relaxation cd helped me get the feeling in my body back. Plus Im not as depressed as I was either.

zach,
ive only had this condition for about 1 and a half years and let me tell you, whenever I get over one strange symptom that lasts for some time, like a couple of weeks or months I seem to end up with some other crappy symptom I dont unerstand to deal with. its like just when you get used to dealing with a symptom youve been to the doc or er about and they confirm its from the anxiety it changes into some other symptom that freaks you out. that has been my experience anyway.but the body nubness or really not being able to feel my body lasted a couple of months.
