I have sometimes experienced a fear of sleeping! Today I was tired and had to pick wife up from work and I swear as i was driving i felt as if i was fading almost into unconsciousness...I dont know if i was panicking because my heart was not pounding, just the thought that i might not be able to stay alert while driving. I Felt soooooo tired and ready to pass out and i was soooo scared! Never happened to me before! I have not been getting really good sleep, maybe 5 hours nitely! Now, i sometimes am afraid of being tired and unable to fall asleep no matter how much i want to! Has anyone ever experience anything like this? Was this an anxiety attack brought on by being tired or just afraid of going unconscious?

well I have experienced feeling afraid to go to sleep because I don't want to find out that I will be unable to sleep again. I have found that when I feel tired sometimes for no reason that that may be some depression kicking in, atleast with me it mostly is.
To me, not sleeping very well would make sense as to why you feel so very tired. Your brain isn't fully occupied while driving so you can think about anything as well as have time become more aware of how you feel. I have experienced this anyway.
