I'm considering going to a counselor as well as starting StressCenter's program. Is there a list available of doctor's who are knowledgeable about the program who I can visit in huntersville, nc (just north of charlotte, nc)?
Thanks for any help. I've been suffering, and I mean suffering though the #$@% anxiety attacks for the last 3 months, and it's high time they stopped!

Can't anyone help me? I had a really bad attack yesterday, and am feeling extremely depressed today...

I dont know about a doc that is aware of the program and is willing to work with it. I told my counselor about the program and she thought it was great. I dont think you are going to find anyone that will tell you not to do it, because they all want the same thing for you and that is the tools to conquer anxiety.
Otherwise they have a counseling program through the Stress Center.

Any advice on how to pick a professional besides going to the phone book, and picking one at random?

Do you have any friends or acquaintances that could give you a referral? Or a pastor?

When I went to my first appt with my psychologist I took the program with me and showed it to him and made sure he was interested in working with me on it before I committed to seeing him again.

ooo a pastor is a good thought! I ask people I know, my doctor I have now suggested a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy when she gave me anti anxiety meds..to do at the same time. How about your regular doctor? They might have a few ideas about who or where to go.
