Has anyone noticed that the ringing in your ears is louder when your especially anxious. It's one of the first signs i notice that anxiety is coming.

Hi Chuck...
I thought I was the only one!!!
My ears ring like no tomorrow and it drives me nuts!
I have recently stopped taking an anti-anxiety med that I took for 2 years and the side effects are awful. My ears have been ringing for 3 months.
What do you do to "relieve" yourself of the ringing? I have "white noise" in my bedroom like the bathroom fan or a water fountain. It helps a little.

try some calcium and magnesium that has helped me. research on the internet what would be good. I was getting the ringing of the ears and it is annoying and scary when we have anxiety already.
It has helped me I haven't noticed it as much anymore.
Good luck

Next time you go to the doctor, let them know about the ringing. Most of the time nothing is wrong, but it could be a sign of inner ear problems. This happened to my mother and they do have medication and treatments that can help.

My ear feels stopped up today. I went to the dr. about this once and he said it was TMJ which I know is a common condition that people with anxiety have. I think a lot of us clench our jaws and don't even know it. Since the joint is right at our ear it causes ear problems. Just a thought....

I read that the ringing of the ears is a common symptom called Tinnitus. I looked it up on the net and it can be caused by extreme emotional distress. (Yep that would be me...)
I also stopped using an anti-anxiety medication in january and the ringing is a common withdrawl symptom that can last for quite awhile.
I keep the fan on in my bathroom to help block out my ringing ears. I find it annoying as well.

I've had an issue with ringing in my ears for about a year or so now and didn't realize till recently that it started when my anxiety started to get bad as well.
I have OE in my ears, as far as my doctors concerned, so I use drops. Which help for a while, but it always comes back and they feel stopped up alot.
One thing I think everyone should try tho is Liboflavonoid, I've heard it's the best stuff you can use. I'm trying to find some for myself at the moment.
