How long does Xanax (.25 mg) and Ambien (5 mg.) stay in the body? Are these two meds on job drug testing lists?

I've been interviewing for a new job. I haven't gotten it yet, and if you read my Frustration & Disappointment thread here in this section, you know I am cautiously optimistic.

Just wondering. Thanks. :)

Hi Charlie Brown.

I don't think you have anything to worry about. They are looking for illegal drugs, not the kinds you take.

Hi Charlie
I am pretty sure you are okay. Like Deedee sais it's illegal stuff they are looking for but if you are still a lil anxious or worried about it call your local pharmacist and they can answer those questions. My local Walgreens is so good and helpful about stuff like that for me in the past.

Jill~
p/s good luck on that job :D

Hey Charlie,

Xanax ------- belongs in the Alprazolam is used to treat anxiety and panic disorders. It belongs to a class of medications called ((((((((benzodiazepines))))) which act on the brain and nerves (central nervous system) to produce a calming effect. It works by enhancing the effects of a certain natural chemical in the body (GABA).

Valium--------Diazepam is used to treat anxiety, acute alcohol withdrawal, and seizures. It is also used to relieve muscle spasms and to provide sedation before medical procedures. This medication belongs to a class of drugs called benzodiazepines which act on the brain and nerves (central nervous system) to produce a calming effect. It works by enhancing the effects of a certain natural chemical in the body (GABA).

Do yourself a favor to bring your mind to rest, get a home self drug test and see if it shows up !!!!!!!!! Got to love this site, common answer "Don't worry about it, it's just anxiety".The amounts maybe so small they don't show up and you may be able to get it not to show up in about a week of non - use.

Best to you !!!!

Charlie,

I used to administer drug test and, I'm sorry, but the benzo's are one of the drugs they look for because they are one of the #1 abused prescription drugs. What we did was make a note of any legally prescribed drugs you are taking on the chain of custoday form. Take your prescription bottles with you as these constitute proof that they are yours and you were prescribed them by a physcian. However, they do clear your system pretty quickly has always been my understanding. Its marijuana that sticks around for along time.

Anway, just let them know you are taking it. And don't let it embarass you. Gazillions of people take meds of this nature. And don't eat poppy seed buns! They cause a false positive for opiates! (besides, they look awful in your teeth! lol)

Good luck!
