Hello, I am 50 years old and started having anxiety and depression since Oct. I went to my gyno on Friday and he thinks that these problems are coming from perimenopause. When I researched the symptoms I found that anxiety and depression are common with perimenopause. He wants to put me on a low dose birth control pill to even out my hormones. Has anyone of the women out there had experience with this ????

Hello Barbie, I am a twenty five year old woman who had to have only one ovary removed and since have been having menopausal symptoms, hot flashes, depression, weepiness, anxiety... and Tuesday I start one hormone, and then next Sunday (one week from today) I start birth control as well. Just letting you know that you're not alone, I might be younger than you, but many women who have to have part or all of their female reproductive organs removed as well as just natural menopause have to do hormone treatment, one of those treatments and the first one that they try is the good old birth control pill. Good luck and hope you are feeling better soon!

Amythaon, good luck to you also, I sure hope this works for us. I can't take mood swings much longer. One minute I'm crying, the next I'm laughing. It's exhausting.
