Stress Center Peer Support

This is whats going on with me. I have a bad neck and back so I go get adjusted every month. I usually take a valium before I go to calm myself down. Well I have been off valium for over 2 weeks. I decided to deal with my anxiety. Everything was going well, to well I was doing better then I thought I would. Anyway I went to the chiropractor last night, got my adjustment and when I got home I felt light headed. I pushed through and when I went to bed as I laying there and I felt like I was moving, like on a boat. I also couldn't relax my neck, it felt as if I was jumping all over the pillow. I worked myself up into a state of panic. I couldn't take the feeling anymore so i took a valium and that still didn't work. I didn't get much sleep and today I still feel weird. I haven't been this anxious in weeks. Does anyone know why an adjustment could trigger this?

So look...basically you worked yourself into a tizzy. It's happened to me so many times. What you have to learn from this situation is to not let yourself get into that state again. If you feel panic coming on then you should not fight it, just absorb it....say okay, what is the worst that is going to happen? I'm not going to die, I'm having a panic attack. But if I desensitize my nerves and work through it instead of putting up a fight (which releases adreneline and causes anxiety) then the worst that can happen is that I panic. ALSO, you are probably going through Valium withdrawal which can also feel like anxiety and panic. It happened to me with Xanax. I am meds free now. I haven't taken anything in 8 months.
